SW Wisconsin | This is not a common problem, even in my herd, but the DHIA reports apparently stopped reporting fat (and presumably protein) tests over 9.9% a few years ago. Instead they just report those tests as 9.9%. Has anybody else noticed this, and found a way to get those numbers? I've talked to a couple of people who say that the lab gets the correct numbers, it's just that the computer generating the reports isn't programmed to show more than 1 digit before the decimal place. It doesn't seem like it could be that hard of a coding issue, I promise never to ask for a third digit before the decimal. Mostly right now it's just a question of bragging rights, but I'm aiming to breed a cow that will average 8% fat and 5% protein, and that won't happen without a few tests of 12-13% fat. | |
