I have yet to see a properly done study on this subject. None ever look at the extra shrink you get with various high-heat drying methods. They all compare to “theoretical shrink”.
We weigh all our corn in and out. And shrink is always higher than what researchers use.
So while I do believe there is indeed phantom yield loss in the field, I know there is phantom yield loss with drying too. Pick your poison.
