If he raised the steer, then he's already been exposed to all the e coli strains the steer had. Like if you're drinking raw milk from ONE cow, you've already got anything she's carrying, and vice versa. A whole lot different than drinking raw milk off a truck from several farms. .
I'm not sure I agree entirely with that line of thinking, although you are right small exposure is helpful at building a immune defense.
Its not just about what strains someone is exposed to but how much of a bacterial load is present and the location. I may get a few E.coli on my hands everyday, maybe a small amount make into my stomach when I eat, no big deal. Get a large amount in the stomach/intestines from bad food or water and then I am in trouble. |
