Did you ask the college what they recommend?
I teach at a tech college and we have some fairly specific requirements. Students can also buy computers through the school but I'm not sure if that's the best deal or not. Mac books and chrome books don't work with the programs we need, on the flip side some departments use mac books exclusively.
