Kettle River, MN | Your only adding 2.5 feet on each wing. In the field you won't notice the difference. And muddy conditions you'll be glad to have a wider head because it just means less passes you have to make at the end of the day. Makes it easier for the grain cart to turn on two passes. Gives the trucks more room when cutting spots in the field quicker. I've never seen a case where wider is not better if your machine can handle the head okay.
I would think in rice country that would be about the only place where the smaller head is practical. And even then you still might want to have a wide head for soybeans or a light rice crop.
When we switched to 45s the only thing that was a hassle is you had to take your header off a little more often for going down the road and moving fields | |
