It'll realize off-track errors first/best if it's farther ahead. Putting it at the pivot point (over rear axle of MFWD) is the worst spot to place one for this. Front of the cab is better, farther ahead is even better but there is a point of diminishing returns. Hence most factory locations are front of cab.
