Being in the exhibition poultry hobby, I've sent more than my share of trash pandas to coon Jesus, but one accidental coon expiration stands out in my mind.
Have you ever seen a 15' long coon? Several years ago I was out chopping stalks with the 986, and a JD 6 row stalk chopper. It was late, or early depending on your perspective, 1 am or so. Combine had quit for the night dryer was full so I was chopping.
And just outside the headlights, I can see something running ahead of me, all of a sudden it pulls a 180, and runs down the middle two rows, right under the tractor, and into those hammers. Barely had time to recognize it as a coon, never hit the clutch, chopper bogged down, pulled the engine with it, and came back up again. Hadn't thrown a hammer so I kept going, but on the next pass, what was left, stretched a good 15' and aside from a few tufts of fur was unrecognizable.
