Let it lay for a full day the day after cutting.

Rake one mower swath onto another. The objective here is to dry the ground laid bare as much as it is to dry the hay.

Now, on day 3 or 4, you have dry ground on which to rake two mower passes together.

I've never cared for the idea of full width swaths behind my 9 foot haybines. Always prefer about 40-50% exposed ground and swaths no wider than can be straddled by the raking tractor.
