That is what I do, I got my haybine setup so I am leaving 4.5" of stubble in grass hay, lay the windrows out wide on top the stubble. The air void below the windrow really helps drying, and it also doesn't let ground moisture wick up in the hay. I consider the word tedder in with words such as wrecker.................Last resort, and normally I don't even think about using one for grass hay.
