Jon
One calculation I didn’t see you discuss is insurance guarantee. I’m not pretending to be an expert in your area. Where I farm, this can be a major driver of crop mix in scenarios where net income is hard to pencil.
We all know expenses are high but the calculation is still the same. What does it cost bare minimum to plant corn vs crop insurance guarantee? In my farming area a lot of corn was planted later than normal due to the projected profit vs soybeans.
Insurance guarantee is what swung it for me.. we almost didn’t plant any dryland corn.. told insurance agent.. he texted me potential guarantees.. hmmm.. well.. I guess.. so no tilled it in.
We got 7” of rain.. then y dropped some expensive fertilizer.. now need it to rain.
Considering options now for next year.
Bearish report today… gonna be some changes on our farm. |
