Matt Griggs had quit vetch because of the wrapping affect, and that makes me nervous!

I didn’t quit vetch because of the wrapping effect, I quit using it in my cotton blend because the mat of vetch was so thick, it’s difficult to accurately place cottonseed shallow in the trench. Plus, at this point I was having a hard time getting my cotton to shut down at the end of the growing season due to excess nitrogen.

I’m a big fan of crimson clover and it’s root structure. It can produce plenty of nitrogen if you can get it to nodulate. A high quality innoculant is highly recommended. However it seems it can still be finicky as some parts of the field, it will flourish and others it won’t. Not sure if it’s herbicide carryover or what.
