Hi Dwight,

I think you will get better advice from farmers and agronomists in or near NE Arkansas who work with cotton on similar soils in a similar climate.

that said, I am open to bouncing a few ideas with you and hopefully folks with more local expertise will chime in.

I'll start with a few Qs for you:

when do you typically plant your rye and when do you terminate it in the spring?

Do your soils tend to be acid or alkaline?

Do your soils tend to be well drained or poorly drained?

Are you leaning toward a winter annual clover like crimson or balansa vs. a perennial clover or vetch

Do you interact with any cotton producers in your region who use cover crops intensively such as Matt Griggs (https://griggsfarmsllc.com/) or Adam Chappell (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dzbvqh5JaU)?
