some breeds shed earlier and also have a tighter hair coat period. Also the slick haired cows normally have less flies and will take heat more comfortable. Worms maybe, genetics yes ,and Graybull is pretty much spot on. Just got back from a Southpoll function hair coat was a topic and I heard a quote that the longer haired cattle/breeds need to shed out more due to taking heat. Lots of cattle a bit off will have more hair.
were you in Louisiana? Just talked to a buddy that spent a few days down there.
