Good question,
Another question,
Weed control and herbicides?
When do we need some tillage to manage/enhance herbicide effectiveness?

The "when" question is "now" in this area.

Even the BTOs who were strictly no-till are now pulling the blade plow again.

The blade plow, aka "sweeps" is an excellent tool for this area, slices off the weeds under the surface, and doesnt disturb much on top. tries to keep erosion minimal, but still killing weeds. The kill rate is excellent on these 100 degree days, I purposely stop an hour or two before dark, preferably earlier if I have the time, to ensure maximum kill and minimal re-root.

I aim to be on a 3 year rotation, and from the moment the wheat is planted till the corn or milo is harvested the next year, there is no tillage. After corn and before winter wheat, its blade plow time. :)
