Central Nebraska | I'd agree that I probably wasn't hacked. Many people confuse spoofing with hacking. Spoofing is when someone pretends to be someone else. In your case someone sent emails that appeared to originate from your account but they really didn't. Social media, specifically Facebook, are big targets for spoofers. A nefarious person does not need login access to your account to spoof it. They simply need to be able to view it so they can create an identical account that they control.
In your case I'd change the password and if you feel the need send an email out with an explanation of what happened. |
