I have been able to find straight trucks in good shape for that $30k range. A single axle semi and hopper bottom has been around $40k from what I have seen so far unless the trailer is rusted out, then it can be bought cheaper. If I could utilize the semi for other uses it may be justified to spend more though, which is why I’m looking at all my options
If you found a good tandem straight truck for that price, buy it. I'm kinda doubting its "good". I have driven everything' I have a very nice kw with a 1400 bushel semi and use it when I have to. I have an old gmc tandem that I use all the time. I am not at all worried about the center of gravity. A hopper bottom is only good for one thing. No question you can find an old pop truck or beer truck cheap. Plates/ins on that. Trailer, plates/ins on that. Then it just sits there. Buy a big, nice twin screw straight truck (tri axle if you can) |
