Winkler, Manitoba Canada | Interesting how people favor the single axle semi with a single axle trailer. Don't think I have seen one locally at all. Straight trucks are prolific, tandem being the most common with a few tri-drives showing up now and a few older single axles still on the road. Semi's would be tandem tractor and tandem trailer or larger, with the trailer being either hopper or end dump.
I would think that when it is wet the straight tandem will easily out perform the small semi. The overhead of running the small semi probably kills it here. Annual safeties and the requirement for a Class 1 licenses don't make it attractive.
