Thanks for sharing this angle. I think even liquid hog manure over the top would have much of the same effect on the stover breakdown, unfortunately however, over the top spreading of that is pretty well outlawed anymore.

Side note question, is it fair to assume that the N from the manure is the biggest contributing factor to the breaking down of the old residue?
