West Tennessee | Take the belt completely off and put both hands on the sheave that moves. If you can rock it side to side any at all you have a problem. Check the top and bottom sheaves. It's been a while but you may need to loosen some spring tension so you can put the sheave in the spot it normally runs. They can be tight in places they don't normally run but slightly loose where they are used the most. When these sheaves wobble they will tighten and loosen the belt rapidly and destroy the belt which is expensive enough (and other things) in short order. Don't do like us and assume you have it when we replaced the reverser sheave assembly. It ran for maybe 50 or 75 hours and then the belt broke again. Found the upper sheave loose (was probably loose the first time) AND by this time the reverser sheave was loose again. Went to fixed speed drive after that. Very expensive experience. Good luck to you. | |
