Neat picture.
We used to see them here regularly even in the winter.
Have not seen one for a while now but your post reminds me of the time we had a 'gray headed woodpecker' coming to our feeders in the winter
Took us a while to figure out that it was an immature red headed woodpecker.
As spring began to arrive it slowly developed red feathers on its head
