Northeast Indiana | I would get with your cover crop dealer and look into legumes for nitrogen fixation, and some sort of grass for deep root growth. That being said, if you have existing tile in the field you may want to hold off on the grass until fall, otherwise you may run into root penetration into your tile lines. But something like red clover will help fix nitrogen to the soil, and some soil sampling come next spring should help you determine what reduced rate of N you'll need. | |
