We have a small fiber hemp field. I wanted to add some nitrogen to part of the field without driving through the stalks. With aircraft application being impractical another method was tried.

So here we have the shoulder fired fertilizer air cannon. Range was 75 to 100 feet. But after all this is prototype number 1. 

My new son-in-law was the "gunner" and a nephew handled the "ammo" at the gun. I was in charge of supervision and resupply from the comfort of the air conditioned tractor cab.
