I have an 18v Milwaukee and get along fine with it.
No one has mentioned the coupling on the end of the hose --- maybe try a different one ???
I store my grease tubes the correct way and all of my manual grease guns are hung up by the plunger handle. The hose is hanging down and gravity helps keep the grease at the working end of the grease gun.
