On a different brand of mower, I've had the belt idler pivot bushing (Non-greaseable type) fail and cause mis-alignment AND stickiness, where it would loose belt tension, for a quick bit/timeframe.

Once, I ordered and installed a new pivot bushing and spring, for that belt idler pivot area, all was good.
