Really don't know why. It seems like beans like a little stress and maybe we babied them too much. Not like we soaked them, about .4-.5" water at a time. The difference was only a few bushel but was surprising. This soil is not sandy or light, but can get droughty and open up. We've had good responses, too, just a couple of no or negative responses. Seems like a lot of times we get that late summer bean saver that puts more pods in the top. As you know, beans are harder to out guess than corn on how they turn out. Do you have lighter or sandy soil? That's great to be able to get that kind of increase. Pays the pivot off fast.
