South Central MN | Seems like churches where the preacher actively and repeatedly encourages families to stay in church even if babies are getting noisy or busy tend to have more older kids and young adults in attendance as well. Old-school churches where kids are seen and not heard don't have kids or young families because they get tired of being shamed into leaving.
This doesn't have to affect the message of the church itself. My brother attends one of the more traditional catholic churches I've been to, yet it's also the noisiest church I've been to due to the number of families with young children. They aren't misbehaving, but babies are expected and allowed to make their natural noises. They don't do anything special for the kids as far as service activities, they just go out of their way to make sure families know they are welcome and not shamed. | |
