Unless you've run a grader for several years you don't have enough seat time to do it with ease. Sod is very easy to work with with a grader. Cut and bury it, problem solved very quickly. The more horsepower the grader has the quicker it rolls dirt to get it away. I think you'd like a scraper for the waterways, I'm guessing you already have a large tractor to pull it.
