Denmark | It varies a lot. During my time I have experienced a low of 2.3 t/ha in an almost drought and a high of 8.1 t/ha. They do need water during flowering so I think planting them first of all in the spring is essential. So they can be well into flowering when the dry weather starts, here around 1 June . In hot and dry weather they can stop flowering overnight and there goes your yield. As even a soaking will not start them again.
I would say an average yield the last couple years is around 3.5 - 4 t/ha, but the field in the pic looks to have a potential of 6 - 6.5 t/ha.
Peas generally are not a moneymaker but for grass seed growers nothing tops them for establishing a good grass crop, -which then will make up for lost income in the peas. | |
