Oh I didn't realize it was open to 35-50! Why not a 375? The 375 Ruger or 375HH has a 308 trajectory for your mental computer and an enormous selection of projectiles.
Again, it needs be dual purpose, way overkill for Iowa whitetails. I’m gonna be hunting dense wilderness, long shots not very likely on my elk hunt. I don’t need a long reach rifle, prefer to get up close. And moderate powered .35 be just about right, the .35 Whelen at the top of the power dept for which I’m seeking.
