I doubt the footings under the posts are as deep as the house so its probably been moving a bit over the years which would loosen it up. I was standing on a similar roof getting ready to shingle it when it let go from the house and dropped so that it was hanging on the posts leaving me sanding on a pile of shingles between the roof and the house...
