Alton, Ia | A lot. With any downforce system it starts to be an issue of wing weight. We had a Great Plains 1625, could go to 625 lbs/row I believe on the springs, but we would start lifting the bar up well before that. Now have a CIH 2140 with Deltaforce, we need to have the wing downforce up to 750 lb to keep row units down. This is the weight on the outer gauge wheels. I would think it could be a few thousand pounds per row, based on 2800 psi hyd, the size of the cylinder, and the geometry of the parallel arms.
I would say if you can't get it into the ground with a Deltaforce, you probably shouldn't plant it. | |
