NEMO | Jim, I have a feeling if we meet face to face we would find each other interesting and pleasant. That being said, I'll once again play devil's advocate with you. It's great that you found a system that works for you, but for the average guy to bred a bull back to his daughters is somewhere between "might work" and/or "irresponsible". Your version of a "good registered bull", "very good bull from a very good breeder" might be 180 degrees from the cow guy down the road. I can actually see what you are doing would probably work better for Herefords than a lot of other breeds, i.e. Angus and any number of other Continental breeds that have allowed Angus to pollute them. There are some grass line bred cattle will fit what you do, but they have to be sought out, and almost don't fit in what has become what you hate to call 'commodity cattle" | |
