| Son has found a crew of recently graduated high school boys helping put up small squares. Yes, I’d say he got lucky. Over 55 years ago, I rode the wagon by myself behind the baler for two cents a bale, and we pretty much did a thousand a day. Gas was about twenty cents, and I could get a hamburger, fries and cola for 45 cents plus a couple cents tax.
The year I graduated high school (1967), I got a factory job for the summer at $2.10 an hour. I could still put hay in the barn during evenings. | |
