If you go the sledge hammer method make sure you make the hole a full stave height minimum at least. I tried it on a 16x40 and only went a little wider then the hammer, about 6 inches, when silo tipped it just ended up tipping till that 6 inches was tight. Excavator finished it. Contractor pushed a hole in the 30x80s with a bulldozer then worked it around with dozer from each side. Fell where he wanted it to. Still have 2 cornstor sealed silos, a 20x70 and 24x80 that we are trying to think of use for. They would make a nice base for a fuel tank or maybe as secondary containment for a fertilizer tank bladder?
