Southern Pa. | Sounds like a bad deal, and I'd be upset about it as well.
I know it's too late for this advice, but that's the reason I have never bought any equipment online without going to look at it in person.
I know lots of people buy stuff everyday online without going to look at it in person. Apparently overall they make out good, or they would quit doing it. I'm just afraid my luck would be like the OP's too many times.
I'm sure I've likely missed a few good deals over the years because of my buying policy. But on the other hand, I've never had to deal with something like this.
