Replicate that woodwork in cedar, sand all cut edges, prime all surfaces and four coats of a good paint, it will be nearly maintenance free as plastic or aluminum. Paint is better than it used to be, especially if you put it on a vented surface that's new and prepped right.
There might be a fiber cement product that could do the same thing.
