central Ia | I knew I was going to retire from my town job at 65, thought about 63 had a mutual fund with enough money to pay for insurance but then I wasn't working that hard and decided a new motorcycle was better than paying for insurance. I was going to farm for another 2-3 years but we started looking for a house down by our kids, we had looked for about 2 months, nothing that we liked, figured we would buy one have to remodel, told realitor we going to do harvest, then get my knee replaced and probably not look again till after we planted in the spring but within about a week we bought a place that was ready to move in, so with in a month I had harvested my last crop, sold the acreage and got ready to move. I haven't regretted it, it was time for me to move out of the house, it was still my first wife's house, she died from cancer at 47 so I knew that there is no gaurentee. | |
