Subject: Balansa and Crimson to Corn

northeast ohio
Last year, Steiner43511 asked about Balansa or Crimson clover ahead of corn. Wondering if there is an update. https://talk.newagtalk.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=871782&mid=767...

We did a 15;acres again of Balansa Crimson with Turnips in mid-August following spelt harvest, lime application and manure injection. Turnips were less tha 1/2# acre but still dominated the fall biomass. Photos below are May 28th planting date. Basic planter with no-til coulters, spring downforce and finger meters resulted in the third photo. Don’t have current images of the stand but it’s very acceptable.

Also tried a mowing the clover mix for forage. Some of the Balansa’s vine biomass escaped the cutter bar. It planted nicely after being sized with a VT pass.
