Just trying to better understand this part of the industry:  If the packers are forced (by law with fines) to more accurately reveal what they are paying the producers for cattle (price discovery), you are saying they will get around this by just "importing" more.  That means they would then purchase less US raised cattle.  Subsequently, does that mean  US producers would have less of a market for their cattle or maybe no market?

I don't have a lot of faith in the brilliance of our "lawmaker politicians", but if it is as easy as you claim for the packers to bypass this proposed price discovery law, why didn't those who authored this law foresee this??  Did they miss something or are you missing something (with your "import more" reply)?
