West Central Illinois
How long can head high corn go without a rain?

It’s planted on heavier black ground that is pattern tiled and tiles are still running water. I suspect the tiles will stop running over the next 5-10 days.

Corn is rooted down good.

Temps for the next 30 days are about normal. Mid to high 80’s and a few days of 90.

Corn should start to tassel around 1st week of July.

I figure it will need a 1/4” of water per day.

60” soil profile that holds maybe 0.15 - 0.2 inches of available water per inch of soil when at Field Capacity.

So 9” of available water at a usage of 0.25 inches per day is 36 days.

Not much rain in the forecast for last part of June and most of July here in west Central Illinois. Will see how long the corn can hold on.
