A mentor of mine told me long ago - people will always disappoint you. I’ve remembered that all my life and it has held true.

I can’t even begin to say how true that is and how much I completely agree with that. And unfortunately it still stings, sometimes.
Hopefully you can be there for unwavering support and she’ll find strength in that. If a couple can count on each other unconditionally…..don’t really need anyone else.
