I have an old bank barn that freezes in winter. Manure gets so hard you can’t dig it out with tractor. Can get to -15 c here for some time. Lines are about 1-2 feet deep in 4 inch tile. Some have 2 inch styrofoam on top and then 4 inches concrete. Never had one freeze if using it. They go to heated bowls
