Subject: RE: Fertilizing double crop soybeans?

Kansas
I went to a meeting earlier this year for wheat. One of the research guys from NE Ok said the best bang for the buck for late planted beans was like 75-100 lbs of potash no matter what the soil test shows. Said they were getting around 8 bu bump on some double croppers. His theory was when the later planted beans switch from vegative to reproductive they hit a shortage of k because their root structure isn't has big as earlier planted beans. He said the beans will recover from the shortage but already took the yield loss and sometimes you won't even notice it much in the plant. Said sulphur also helps but wasn't as consistent. I'm thinking 75 lbs ams and 75 lbs potash on some of ours.
