I don't know. I haven't tried the earbuds for hearing protection. Wife has some, but they only hold a few hours charge so I haven't borrowed them. These still have battery left after my longest days. If I wear them more than 3 full days in a row they start to feel annoying because my ears are just a little too big. They do trap sweat in on really hot days, but I don't get sunburned ears so probably an even tradeoff.

As for dB reduction, I feel like these do about as well as the foam disposable earplugs.
