north central Iowa, Hampton | I've had the best luck with Tempo SC. It's actually approved for commercial kitchens. About a 10 day residual. Can be used inside or out. If they're really bad, put some in a pump up sprayer and apply a border around the house. It does wash away in the rain though.
I've even used it to kill ant hills in the lawn. Seems to work.
