Thanks! I didn't think of the deer losses. 20bu/ac loss you say? Yikes. Some nights coming back from my day job I practically have to plow the deer off the road to make way.

My neighbor said it would be hard to follow the rows on the hillside if it's planted in corn, especially if the ground is at all wet because around here it turns into this slick, sticky clay stuff that would make the machine slide sideways off the hill.

I think corn is more effort than it's worth, especially if I end up having to pull gravity wagons to the elevator with an F250 or the 1486 - it's about 10 miles through the center of town or much longer on roads that aren't the highway. Here's another potential cost: hiring the crop taken to market.
