Donnellson, IA. Makes saying here easier.
As mentioned it's more about what is in the water. Here cover crops aren't growing at a time that competes for water. Just protects the soil from early heavy rains while crop gets up and going.

And reduced amounts of water flow reduces what goes in the river. I love that so many forget how point source releases work. The less flow in the river the less that can be discharged. Unlike Agriculture they know what is being released in a day. I would like to know anyone that can supply me with their annual water samples and exactly what they contributed to the river. I know I have more work to do on my farm.
