NW Wisconsin | There is an amazing church in Lihue that is worth a visit. In the late 1870’s a group of Germans settled on Kauia. One was a Lutheran minister who convinced his brother back in Germany to get a group together, build a ship to sail across the Atlantic, around the tip of South America, and on to the Island of Kuaia. The trip took 6 months.
When they landed they dismantled the ship and built the church with the wood from the ship. One can enter the church and actually see remnants of the ship. It is still being used with an active congregation.
How is that for extreme faith and dedication! | |
