I’ve worn Carhartt carpenter jeans for a long time and have noticed the same thing. I used to get along best with the white tag unwashed version that sold cheap but they haven’t made those for a long time. Thanks to a similar thread on here a couple years ago I found Bailey’s Wild Ass logger jeans from the Pacific Northwest. I have been happy with them. They are made in USA and are reasonably priced. I have a couple pairs of Duluth flex jeans and the stretch is nice but they are expensive. I try to keep them nice enough to wear as casual jeans.
