Agent Orange: Friendly fire that keeps on burning. | You don't really want or need to charge your EV in 10 minutes when you're at your home. I was just a little guy when REA first came to our farmhouse. In order to get REA, the homeowner had to commit to a minimum monthly charge in order to get the lines run. I think it was on the order of $3 or so. Since we had been using 32V from a wind generator about all we had been using was lights and a radio. No way that would have used the minimum so dad put a couple electric burners on the kitchen stove to replace a couple of the bottled gas burners. He also wired in a brand new clothes dryer. Using those, he avoided paying for electricity he wasn't using. The upshot of all of the above is: That old collection of homestead shacks that we called home had enough electrical infrastructure to charge today's EV in less than 6 hours. Most of today's homes have an electric clothes dryer and many have electric ranges. Not using either of those while charging would not be a huge problem.
